NICHES – New and Innovative Concepts for Helping European transport Sustainability

The main goal of the NICHES project was to collect and prepare informations and results about promising concepts and solutions regarding urban transport and to offer a basis for decision-making in order to facilitate an extensive dissemination of the concepts. Research activities of academic institutions, industry, mobility operaters and transport authorities in the area of innovative urban transport concepts were considerated and consolidated. Information in four different topics were collected: new mobility services, innovative solutions for urban transport, new ecological and energy efficient vehicles as well as innovative demand mangement strategies. 
PTV was responsible for the topic innovative solutions for urban transport. Within this topic three different concepts were analysed and prepared: infrastructure managment for urban delivery, night delivery in city centres and doorstep/locker delivery.
