Formula 1: Grand Finale in Abu Dhabi

The transportation experts simulated motorised private transport from the surrounding motorways to the parking facilities at Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi. Moreover, they visualised and evaluated pedestrian routes from the car parks and shuttle bus stops to the stops at the arena and from the security check points to the grandstand gates. By means of the simulation it was possible to visualise traffic flows entering and leaving the circuit, identify infrastructure capacity bottlenecks and evaluate the road safety concepts. This also enabled the planners to identify bottlenecks that might affect pedestrian flows. The calculations were immediately integrated into the safety concept and ensured that the event ran smoothly.
